Between Table Mountain and Signal Hill, the top of the mountain offers a panoramic view over Cape Town.

Climbing to the top of the Lion’s Head is surely one of the most incredible moments of the Cape Town tour and a great touristic spot for hike lovers. With 669 meters’ height, the journey takes about 40/60 minutes but it is extremely safe and rewarding.

A POWERFUL VIEW

An authentic viewpoint, Lion’s Head is widely acknowledged for its view over the city and the Atlantic Coast. It is utterly unforgivable to leave the camera at home and not to capture all the wonderful landscapes.

Its slopes are used as a starting point for paragliding but hikes at sunrise and sunset offer a unique perspective over Cape Town. Reaching the top of the mountain might be one of the most astounding places you will ever be.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Climbing to the mountain top is entirely free. The south side is the favored place to start climbing once it is where the safest parking lot can be found. Don’t forget to take some bottles of water and snacks with you and, if you would like to contemplate the sunset/sunrise, make sure you also carry a flashlight.
